HINGED GATES MANUAL AND POWERED

OVERVIEW:
This type of gate is still the most widely used, but has been rapidly overtaken on commercial and secure sites by the sliding models. Hinged gates however, are the most economical way (cheapest) of closing entrances, especially for pedestrian traffic. There are many designs available and this datasheet describes both manually and power operated options.

USE:
Where economy is a major factor, and where there is now drawback space for sliding gates.

SIZE
Hinged gates are flexible on the combination of widths and heights available. Double gates up to 40m opening and heights up to 3m. The larger gate leaves should have drive units to combat windy conditions. Single leaf gates are available in up to 20m opening.

CONSTRUCTION:
Framing and braces of heavy duty square and rectangular hollow section high quality steel - all welded. The section dependent on the leaf width, height and infill.
The infill itself can be vertical bars, welded or woven mesh, steel or aluminium panelling, or solid timber. Posts of square section steel.

FITTINGS FOR MANUAL GATES:
Hinges with full adjustments fitted with hard wearing bushes and greasing points. Lever lock with double-ended 5 lever profile cylinder, integrated drop bolt and centre ground support stop, adjustable foot operated holding back catches are supplied as standard.

SECURITY DEVICES:
Top rail of gates can have serrated age, vertical steel spikes, or extensions for barbed wire, or flatwrap BTC.

ADDITIONAL FITTINGS FOR SINGLE GATES:
Electromechanical drive units can be fitted at ground level or at the top of the gateposts. Powered gates are required by international safety standards to have rubber safety buffers on each side of the closing stile, and at the hinged stile to prevent entrapment. The size of the motor depends on the square meter dimension of the gate leaf, the infill and expected weather conditions, but generally the power supply is single phase.

CONTROL FUNCTIONS FOR POWERED GATES
Options include:-
"Hold to Run" key switch - standard supply.
Open - stop - close in gatehouse/remote location (key switch or push button)
Selector switch with status light for remote location
Card reader (swipe/proximity) intercom in separate post.

SAFETY OPTIONS FOR POWERED GATES:
Red/green 200mm diameter traffic lights, single/double sided.
Green only shows when gates fully open
Infrared beam - stops gate operation when interrupted
Flashing yellow light atop gatepost when gate moving
Vehicle detection induction loop systems - vehicle waiting, auto closing.

FINISH
All joints continuously welded. All steel surfaces blasted clean to S3 standards. Pure zinc metal spray, minimum thickness 100 microns plus 2 coats polyester, stoved bonded between applications. Wide range of RAL colours available.

INSTALLATION:
Gate posts fitted into pockets made in precast concrete foundation. Alternatively, baseplated for bolting down. Drive units at ground level to be on flat surface, with centrally placed cable duct.
